  • More consistent menus and editing controls, plus a fix for a crash when closing Studio.

· Windows

0.16.15 — Terrain and project workflow improvements

Build closer to terrain edges, export edited heightmaps, and open projects more easily in Windows.

More details
  • Valid tracks can approach the terrain edge with shoulders and blending extending outside it. The actual rideable width must still fit within the terrain.
  • Export a standalone, full-resolution 16-bit PNG heightmap including applied edits from Settings > Terrain Scale.
  • Windows .mxb projects now have a Studio icon and double-click support after installation or updating, while preserving another app you have chosen as the default.
  • See live cursor elevation in the bottom-right corner across workspaces. Studio-created terrain uses the original base as zero, so cuts can show negative elevations; imported terrain uses heightmap zero.

· Windows

0.16.14 — Terrain editing fixes

Fixes terrain Apply controls and makes community and support links easier to find.

More details
  • Fixed Apply not responding in the Erosion and Blend tools.
  • Restored visible Apply and Cancel controls in Landscape.
  • Settings now includes Discord community and support links with consistent icons.

· Windows

0.16.13 — Smoother editing and natural water

More consistent editing controls and natural-looking water make it easier to shape and finish a track.

More details
  • Inspectors are organized more consistently across workspaces. Search highlights matching controls briefly. Compact object scale controls and cleaner spacing reduce inspector clutter.
  • Rut, Bumps, Array, and Scatter tools remember their defaults for the current session. Terrain and Objects editing use clearer Apply and Cancel behavior.
  • Subtle view and interface transitions, consistent slider cursors, and a refined Array inspector make everyday adjustments easier to follow.
  • Create natural-looking water for puddles, ponds, and lakes. Adjust texture size, texture strength, and opacity; water can span the terrain.
  • Existing water keeps its appearance until you choose Update texture.

· Windows

0.16.12 — Track-edge placement fixes

Fixes track-edge object-array placement and makes placement feedback clearer.

More details
  • Rigid markers follow locally folded track edges more reliably.
  • Problem areas are highlighted, and placement validation uses a locally bent copy without changing the original edge.
  • Pick Start works with Both alignment; the cursor guide and fine-offset controls make placement easier to judge.
  • Help topics are grouped in a scrollable panel.
  • Export shows green progress feedback and clearer time readouts.

· Windows

0.16.11 — Terrain and export improvements

Terrain sculpting, track-side placement, and export workflows are more reliable, with new reference-image controls.

More details
  • Improved smoothing at steep terrain edges and restoration when canceling a sculpt operation. Added Offset and Blend tools and terrain-sculpt shortcuts E/B/R/L/S/G/O.
  • Create connected, natural bump shapes, select bumps in the viewport, and preserve older bump sections while editing.
  • Place object arrays linked to track edges.
  • Import, align, lock, and show or hide reference images in the editor; reference images are not exported.
  • Browse to repair missing model textures, reuse matching library textures automatically, and get corrected generated fallback textures and clearer compiler errors.
  • Hide wear and its handles while editing without changing exported wear, and continue a wear stroke from its endpoint.
  • Use Delete and multi-selection to remove checkpoints, sectors, and the finish marker. Track ID is now saved with each project, the first layout is created more consistently, and track-info images are clearer.
  • Reuse unchanged compiler stages or choose Rebuild All. Installing a build and creating a PKZ are independent actions, and packaging a dedicated server from an existing build is simpler. Automatic backup copies are no longer retained.
  • Library imports retain their context, and Settings help text is clearer.

· Windows

0.16.10 — Terrain and workflow refinements

Replacing a heightmap preserves project work, and material import and export cancellation are more reliable.

More details
  • Replacing a heightmap preserves existing edits and can be undone.
  • Import DDS and TGA material images.
  • Canceling export, using X, or closing the export window now cleans up in-progress export work.
  • Added a small Created with MXB Studio credit to exported track-info images.

· Windows

0.16.9 — Track path fixes

Track-path editing and layout assignment are more reliable.

More details
  • Keep an unfinished track path while using right-click fly navigation.
  • When the selected layout has no main path, a newly drawn closed main path is assigned to it, including after canceling and recreating a path.
  • Undo and Redo keep the path and its layout assignment together, restoring full-track riding-area fade for correctly linked paths.

Existing saved paths without a main-path assignment are not changed automatically. Select the main path for the layout in Race setup.

· Windows

0.16.8 — First tester release

The first normal MXB Studio tester release brings the track-building workflow together in one Windows app.

More details

Studio is still in development; keep backups and check your exported tracks in MX Bikes.

Build your track

  • Create a project, generate terrain or import a heightmap, then shape your track path, jumps, and other features.
  • Add surface materials and wear, including bike ruts and equipment marks. Organize patterns, imports, and presets in library folders.
  • Place scenery, adjust the environment, and import WAV or MP3 sounds with an audio preview.
  • Prepare race data and multiple layouts, with their own in-game names, track maps, and thumbnails.
  • Save and reopen editable Studio projects so you can continue refining your track.

Export to MX Bikes

  • Set up PiBoSo’s separately installed compiler tools and compile from Studio.
  • Build Player or Dedicated server packages, install a Player package in your chosen MX Bikes track folder, or save packages for sharing.
  • Edit Track ID in Export and see the package filename update. Export uses the map artwork saved for each layout.
  • Package existing Studio build files when you want to preserve manual edits without rebuilding the track.

Getting started & refinements

  • New projects open directly in the Terrain workspace.
  • Toggle preview shadows without changing the brightness of unshadowed areas.
  • Close the app from the project hub with the normal unsaved-work prompt.
  • Open the published Help and export guides from the app. The signed Windows installer starts the normal MXB Studio update channel.

Earlier isolated test builds use a separate installation and update channel. Install this normal release separately. Studio’s viewport is a working preview; confirm appearance, riding, timing, and resets in MX Bikes.
